There are a lot of robotic safeguards in new cars, capable of doing everything from stopping your car before an immobile object, to perpendicularly parking the vehicle for you. But are they a hinderance more than a help? High-performance driving enthusiast Jon Phillips, editor in chief of PCWorld, looks at safety novelties such as blind spot detection, a lane keeping aid and parking assistance in a new Ford Edge, and gives his verdict on whether they're worth all the hype. He also suggests other automatic safeguards cars should have.

Not All Published Economics Papers Are What They Seem
How reliable are the findings in economics studies? Not very, according to Federal Reserve researchers Andrew Chang and Phillip Li. Only one-third of the results in a series of economics papers written from 2008 to 2013 could be replicated by independent parties. Even with the authors' help, findings in less than half of 67 papers could be verified. That places economics in the same doubtful category as studies on cancer and psychology, according to Business Insider.
