There is a catch. It is not your humble cups of the Tetley's or even the PG Tips that has these amazing powers. In order to experience these amazing powers, you have to turn to the exotic leaves. Herbal teas are the brews that are made of any other plant other than the plants considered the traditional tea plants. The herbal teas are generally low in calorie.

Consequently, it helps cut down your calorie intake when used as a replacement for the high-calorie sodas, lemonade, juices and the sweetened iced teas. The decreased calorie intake is the starting point for weight loss. There are a variety of herbs that can be used, some of which you might be familiar with already. Some of these include the red raspberry leaf, the ginger roots, cinnamon and the chamomile. Most of these have less than two calories per cup.

However, most of these have caffeine in them and make it difficult to sleep at night. The herb brews have no caffeine content and are thus your best option.

Generally, the majority of herbs used in these brews are recognized as safe for the general population. However, should you adopt this option for to burn the extra calories, it is best to have a chart with your doctor before you start. This is even more important if you are breastfeeding or with some conditions like kidney or liver diseases.
